Los Sonidos
When Matt first arrived in Spain, the pressure was put on him instantly to compose and perform. However, while he had much performance experience, he was new to composing. This piece, “Los Sonidos,” is a contrafact of the famous Spanish guitar concerto “Concierto de Aranjuez” by Joaquin Rodrigo. He combined the melody with rhythms from that of the caribbean and also his friends from California. The title “Los Sonidos” or “The Sounds” is meant to represent the culmination of all the sounds Matt heard in his head.
